A Redefined Culinary Experience On The Chesapeake Bay

Nestled along the shores of Carter’s Creek near the Chesapeake Bay, the Tides Inn offers a refined yet relaxed escape where dining, nature, and community come together. With a culinary program rooted in regional flavors, thoughtfully designed accommodations, and immersive experiences like oyster farming, the resort provides guests with a deep connection to the land and water that define Virginia’s Northern Neck.

At the Tides Inn, dining is a reflection of the region—simple, thoughtful, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Overlooking Carter’s Creek, the resort offers a serene setting just off the Chesapeake Bay, where fresh ingredients and a strong sense of community shape everything from the kitchen to the table.

SALT & MEADOW

At Salt & Meadow, Executive Chef Kyle Perkins leads a culinary program rooted in regional sourcing and seasonal flavors. Chef Perkins brings experience from acclaimed kitchens, including Twin Farms in Vermont. His approach focuses on partnerships with local farms and producers, as well as daily harvests from the resort’s own Tides Inn Farm. The result is a menu that celebrates the best of the region—seafood from nearby waters, herbs grown on-site, and produce sourced just miles away.

The menu features garden-forward small plates alongside seafood and proteins prepared with a light, elegant touch, allowing the ingredients to shine. The dining room, with its views of Carter’s Creek, offers a setting that is both polished and welcoming.

GOLD OYSTER EXPERIENCE

This season, guests seeking a hands-on experience may enjoy their Chesapeake Gold Oyster Experience. Led by the Tides Inn’s ecologist, Will Smiley, this intimate outing explores the vital role oysters play in the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Eastern oysters, a keystone species, help purify the water and support marine ecosystems. Participants will visit an oyster farm, pull up cages, and assist in sorting the day’s catch. Back on shore, they’ll learn how to grade oysters by size and quality—and even try their hand at grilling before enjoying the results.

WAKE UP AT THE BAY

Accommodations at the Tides Inn are designed to reflect the natural beauty of the region. Each guest room and suite offers views of the water, shoreline, or resort grounds, with a soothing palette of natural colors and refined, understated details. Among the most popular choices are the Ashburn Suites, offering expansive water views and generous living spaces; the Resort View King rooms; and the Stephens Suite, a 1,400-square-foot retreat with a private terrace overlooking Carter’s Creek.

Whether visiting for a quiet weekend or an extended stay, guests will find an experience that balances comfort, connection to nature, and a strong sense of place. The Tides Inn embodies a thoughtful approach to hospitality, where dining, accommodations, and the surrounding environment come together with purpose and care.
